And the winner is. . .

Just a quick post (because I know that she won't mention this).

As you may know, from her post about completing a few more things on her 101 list, Gigi recently competed in an indoor triathlon last weekend for the first time. A co-worker (Cathy) convinced her to do this, and at first she wasn't even sure if she was going to be able to finish it (not a big fan of running, and was fearful of the fact that she had to do so on a treadmill). You have heard about the overly warm pool that made the swimming difficult, and the treadmill that was a bit finicky, so she had to battle with it and work harder than you should have to in order to keep it moving. She came back satisfied that she finished, more than beating her personal goal of finishing in an hour, and beat out Cathy by a minute (not like that matters, but Gigi was happy since Cathy has done these sort of things before, and she is just getting into doing things like this when Cathy convinces her to do so).

What she hasn't mentioned is that her Cathy called this week after getting the results from the organizers, and Gigi Won!!!

So, it seems that we have a champion in our midst - albeit a humble one (in case you haven't picked up on this yet, once she sets her mind on doing something, there is very little that anyone can do to stop or even slow her down, so don't get in her way- I won't).

Now she is talking about training for a "real" outdoor triathlon, and has even been looking at training schedules and the whole nine yards.

Good luck to all of you who are working on your personal regiment for your upcoming foot race. I just found out found out from my brother Jake last night (actually early morning- when we were doing our customary weekly Halo 3 thing) that he is also going to be running the half marathon. Did someone mention to him that one of the prerequisites is to start a blog to keep the rest of us up to date on the training efforts? We need to get on that.

As for me, Golf training will start in a few weeks once Mother Nature makes up her mind about what season it is in southern MN. Gigi just had me go out and take some pics of the kids (boys and dogs) playing with the neighbors in the snow that is still coming down (something about 6+ inches possible today).

Yay! Congratulations Gigi! Is there a prize for winning? A medal, perhaps?

And Matt -- there's no need to remind me about the snow. lol.

I asked the same thing. . . and alas, nothing for this event (I think she got a t shirt for participating, I was hoping for a huge cash prize) Don't remember the entry fee being all that much, and I doubt that the sponsorship was the same as it is for Grandma's.

Anyone have a trophy that they no longer want laying around so I can mod it into something for this?

I am thinking that the "prize" will be some of the gear that she will need to do the "real" tri. Her bike needs a makeover (gears aren't shifting right, and one of the break mechanisms is messed) and apparently a wet suit is typically worn for swimming so that when you switch from swimming to biking, you peel off the wet suite and have biking/running cloths under since you aren't given the option to change without penalty (clock keeps running- not like the indoor, where they insist that you changed because they didn't want dripping wet people on their stationary bikes and treadmills).

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. . . (keeps the riff raf away)

Only downer is that Gigi wanted to do an egg hunt with the boys outside in our backyard since this will be the first time we ever stay home for Easter :-(
