I have managed to check off three 101 tasks this week! Yay! I completed: First Communion, watching a Romantic Comedy with Matt and completing 2 months of sending a weekly ecard. As you have seen from the pictures, I made it through First Communion, even though I got teary eyed several times as I realize my little boy is growing up!!
Matt and I watched 27 Dresses last night, it is a pretty good movie. Matt appreciated the creativity of the credits at the end. (Leave it to Matt to make notes on the credits). I am sure I will repeat this task over the next couple of years, but this way we purposefully set aside time to watch a movie together.
It was not too difficult to send ecards each week, it was actually kind of fun looking up different events and reasons to send cards! I am sure I will continue doing this, although probably not with weekly consistency.
This means I have completed a grand total of 13 tasks so far (of I counted correctly). Only 88 more to go!

And the winner is. . .
Just a quick post (because I know that she won't mention this).
As you may know, from her post about completing a few more things on her 101 list, Gigi recently competed in an indoor triathlon last weekend for the first time. A co-worker (Cathy) convinced her to do this, and at first she wasn't even sure if she was going to be able to finish it (not a big fan of running, and was fearful of the fact that she had to do so on a treadmill). You have heard about the overly warm pool that made the swimming difficult, and the treadmill that was a bit finicky, so she had to battle with it and work harder than you should have to in order to keep it moving. She came back satisfied that she finished, more than beating her personal goal of finishing in an hour, and beat out Cathy by a minute (not like that matters, but Gigi was happy since Cathy has done these sort of things before, and she is just getting into doing things like this when Cathy convinces her to do so).
What she hasn't mentioned is that her Cathy called this week after getting the results from the organizers, and Gigi Won!!!
So, it seems that we have a champion in our midst - albeit a humble one (in case you haven't picked up on this yet, once she sets her mind on doing something, there is very little that anyone can do to stop or even slow her down, so don't get in her way- I won't).
Now she is talking about training for a "real" outdoor triathlon, and has even been looking at training schedules and the whole nine yards.
Good luck to all of you who are working on your personal regiment for your upcoming foot race. I just found out found out from my brother Jake last night (actually early morning- when we were doing our customary weekly Halo 3 thing) that he is also going to be running the half marathon. Did someone mention to him that one of the prerequisites is to start a blog to keep the rest of us up to date on the training efforts? We need to get on that.
As for me, Golf training will start in a few weeks once Mother Nature makes up her mind about what season it is in southern MN. Gigi just had me go out and take some pics of the kids (boys and dogs) playing with the neighbors in the snow that is still coming down (something about 6+ inches possible today).

2 more down, 97 more to go...
First, I completed an indoor triathlon this weekend. I am counting it as my triathlon goal, although I am hoping to maybe do an outdoor one in the future. It actually went pretty well, my co-worker Cathy signed us up for the tri, and being indoors, it was on stationary bikes and treadmills. I have to assume it may be easier outside when I can actually be traveling somewhere. In addition the pool was 87 degrees!!! Great if you plan on hanging out in the pool, horrible if you plan on trying to move through the water. I was also proud of myself for not falling on my face on the treadmill, since I usually run/walk on an indoor track. Oh yeah, did I mention I really do not like running- it would have to be last :). For those of you who are able to stick to your 9 minute miles on long distances...kudos to you. I only managed my 1 1/2 miles in 15 minutes. I am not a runner, and I am slow when I do run. I was proud that I ran without falling back on walking.
Secondly, we bought Gavin a violin! When Gavin started playing the violin we started out renting it because we figured he would grow out of the size pretty quick. (For those that are unaware, violins come in different sizes so kids can play). we went to Christian Eggert Violins in Duluth and looked into renting. He started out on a 1/10 size. That last for about 3 months, then he was moved to 1/8 size. So we thought it made sense to keep renting a violin. Well he has actually been on that size for a year now, so it is better to own one. So we bought his rental, but we also picked up all the assorted sizes from mom and dad Dobo's house, and we will set to work on getting some bows and strings repaired as well. We do like Gavin's violin, and he is excited that it is "his."
So, during our busy weekend, I managed to complete 2 more of my 101, making me feel better about the big list I have created!!

Golfing in March...

Okay, so I did not actually go golfing, but I finished a 101 task!!! We joined the local golf / country club. So, for those of you friends and family members that like golfing, come on down. Now, I will just need to work on the next task which is to golf at least 2 times a week. Of course in MN, it will be a bit yet before enough snow clears and the course is ready for golf. So I should practice up.... "FORE."

Matt's 1 in 1001
As a sign of true solidarity (and lack of a list of my own- for now), I am publishing by version of the now popular "101 in 1001" trend amongst blogging friends. Even though my list is simple, in many ways it will involve a lot of work (and fun) at times. So here goes:
1) Help and support Gigi as she works on her 101 in 1001 goal.
Once you read through her list, you will see what I mean about work and fun on my part. Looks like a few projects (some overdue things on my part- like finishing my thesis), mostly fun and travel, and a whole lot of Golf on my part.
Wish me luck!

Gigi's 101 in 1001....
Okay, so Jody and I have decided to be each other's cheering section and do our 101 items in 1001 days! (Thanks Jenny for the idea). As I was doing this, my object was to also try and get in things that are fun, since I am a go, go, type A personality and relaxing is actually hard to do. There are a couple of these things that will never be complete, but I can work on them!! There are also some things that I will hope to do more than once, we will see. According to calculations, if today is day 1, then day 1001 is DECEMBER 3, 2010!! We will have a big party!! Notice one of my tasks was just finished...
