As I have eluded to in my 101 list previously, we planned to take the boys to a Suzuki Institute (violin camp) sometime in the next couple of years. We decided this would be a good time to go as we understand that it will significantly help the beginner players we have in our family! So after a detour to drop off the dogs with the Duluth Dobos (who graciously met us in Forest Lake), we arrived in Steven's Point late Sunday afternoon. This is a family camp, as the suzuki method relies heavily on parent participation and so we are all staying in a dorm. Strange, after being head residents, the boys think nothing of staying in a dorm. After checking in and bringing our stuff up a few flights of stairs (of course we packed too much), we took off on our bikes to get some dinner and some items at the local big box store (KMART in this case).
Once we had eated and dropped off items in our rooms, we then headed to the welcome gathering and "play in." Since Gavin has been playing for a year and a half, he participated in the play in while Garek, Matt and myself watched Gavin. Needless to say, there are many violin students here!! After the excitement we went and organized ourselves in our rooms, and got to bed for our first full day of violin activities!
Enjoy the pictures and we hope to have more details in the upcoming days!
