Rockin in the Quarry

Okay so it is not that we have not done things to post, I have not slowed down to post :) On Sunday we went to Rockin in the Quarry. This is an annual event that is free and it is in the Quarry near Mankato. For those of you that do not know, in Southern Minnesota we are home to stone called Kasota stone, it is a tan colored limestone used on many buildings etc. One of the quarry companies, SMC, has hosted a quarry concert that features some local bands and the Mankato Symphony. You go and bring chairs/blankets and snacks. Some years it is REALLY hot. But yesterday it was cloudy so it kept it a nice temp (although humid). The boys favorite part was that the orchestra played the star wars theme music and they also play the 1812 Overture with real cannons firing! (They really like to watch those) The boys play in big rock piles and need a bath when we are done, but it is a pleasant afternoon and early evening of music and family fun! And a bonus for us- no injuries on the rocks!!
