Garek's Turn to Post...

Since this is a family blog, I asked Garek what he would like to share with our friends and family. This is his input: He wants to share about his pets. We have three parakeets (we had four until December, unfortunately Keet passed away) So he took some pictures of the birds for you to see (pretty good for being through the bird cage bars):

This is Indy (full name Indigo) and Snowy

This is BB (short for: Baby Bird, Blue Bird, or Budgie Bird)

In addition to the birds, Garek would like to share another pet with you: his Ball Python, Sammy Stick (this is not as in sticky- gooey, but rather as in stick- like). Garek picked out Sammy Stick for his 4th Birthday last year, so we have had him for about a year. Garek is good about making sure we are taking care of Sam and feeding him etc. Garek is not yet old enough to feed Sam himself, but loves his snake. He likes to give him baths (see the picture). He even had daddy bring him to preschool one day for sharing time. What a hit!

Garek will wait until another post to tell you about the dogs, Roxy and Lucy. In case you have not figured it out from this post, Garek LOVES all animals. I can see many a pet in our future...

Good job posting, Garek!! I love animals too, except snakes. Snakes scare me. Do you have a favorite kind of animal?

As crazy as it may sound, snakes (especially Ball Pythons) are Awesome pets!

Consider this:

Sammy eats once a week (once he is full grown, 4-5 feet long, it will be once every 2-3 months), only goes to the bathroom once every 2-3 weeks (and the clean up is ridiculously easy as it is a small calcified lump and a bit of urine). He is quiet (no barking, chirping, or unholy cat noises at odd hours when there is a neighborhood feline convention going on). Don't know of anyone that is Allergic to snakes (fear- yes, allergic- not that I know). And if we decide to go somewhere, as long as he has water (and his heat source) he's good to go.

Most people that I talk to are either afraid of snakes, or spiders, or neither bother them. So my latest poll looks into this (since more stories about Sammy are bound to be pitched, so we need to do some market research regarding our audience) Go vote!
