I plan to write a New Years Post later, but wanted to share an excellent cooking story for the day! The boys have been pestering Matt to make waffles the past couple of mornings and today they were successful in waking up daddy to do so. Matt used the last of the vegetable oil in the deep fryer earlier in the week, so we were out of oil (a necessity for waffles). He looks in the cupboard and sees....wok oil. On the label it says cottonseed oil, so Matt thought...that should work. Forget the little print that said "and other natural flavoring." So Matt mixes up the batter and must have thought something was off, because he went back to the label...and found that other natural flavors include garlic, cilantro and such spices. What the heck, he thought he could proceed with the waffles. Being a good sport, Matt ate his waffle right up. The boys did not seem to mind the savory waffles, But I noticed right away! Too bad I had already added syrup. It seemed to me the waffles may be have tasted better with soy sauce ;)
Matt does not usually end up quite this creative in the kitchen, so it is a story worth mentioning. For future reference, I would not suggest supplementing for vegetable oil with wok oil!

Ewwww....gross..lol. I'm impressed he was such a good sport...
That is funny, maybe he has come upon a new type of waffle. You can call it the "Chinese Waffle" who knows someone may like it. Ha Ha but --I don`t think so >>.
What can I say. . . I didn't have any coffee yet and my sinuses were so plugged that I couldn't smell the garlic, cilantro, and ginger infused in the oil.
It's not like they didn't turn out, they were just different (they actually tasted good, but I didn't add any syrup, just butter).
